SANTA MONICA, CA (June 25, 2015) – “Today, justice was upheld for millions of children and families across America who need affordable health coverage and, once again, the intent of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) prevails. The ACA has been crucial in making children’s coverage more affordable for many families and offering affordable options for their parents. This is critical because when a parent is covered, we know their children will more likely be enrolled. With this ruling, the health coverage of 730,000 children who would have likely lost their coverage in federal marketplace states if subsidies had been discontinued is protected and more can continue to enroll. Low- and middle-income families who are living in states that chose not to set up their own health insurance marketplace will be able to benefit from the ACA, just as families living in other states do. In California, our state health marketplace will continue to make inroads. With this lawsuit behind us, we can carry on with the important job of putting the ACA to work for hard working families across the country.”
