Montebello Unified School District Joins Statewide School-Based Outreach Effort to Enroll Families into Affordable Health Coverage Before February 15 Covered California Open Enrollment Deadline

MONTEBELLO, CALIFORNIA (January 24, 2015) – On Saturday, students, families, educators, and community members came together at the Montebello Teacher’s Association Conference Center to learn about and enroll into affordable health coverage. The enrollment event was part of The Children’s Partnership’s ALL IN for Health 22-day statewide campaign with schools, early learning centers, and after-school sites across the state to help inform all eligible families about available health coverage opportunities and connect them to coverage ahead of the Covered California open enrollment deadline on February 15.

“The community of Montebello sees the school district as a resource for families,” said Arthur Revueltas, Deputy Superintendent of Montebello Unified School District. “Today’s event was an incredible opportunity for us to help our families enroll in health coverage before the February 15 Covered California open enrollment deadline.”

“We know that healthy kids make better learners,” said Barbara Wilson, Health Outreach Programs Coordinator at the Los Angeles County of Education. “Today’s enrollment event was an opportunity for parents to make an investment not only in their children’s health coverage, but also in their child’s capability to come to school healthy and ready to achieve the best possible education.”

“Schools are a natural onramp to connect thousands of uninsured children and families to health coverage. That is why the ALL IN For Health Campaign has partnered with schools across the state to educate families about health coverage opportunities and make sure eligible families get the enrollment assistance they need,” said Wendy Lazarus, Founder and Co-President of The Children’s Partnership. “We applaud the commitment from Montebello Unified School District and the Los Angeles County Office of Education to educate families throughout the community about the availability of affordable health coverage and to offer opportunities for families and individuals to enroll.”
