Senator Mikulski and Children’s Organizations Agree: Hold Children Harmless in Fiscal Cliff Negotiations

The Children's Partnership joins other national children’s advocacy organizations to applaud Senator Barbara A. Mikulski for her efforts to ensure children are held harmless in the ongoing budget negotiations. Chair of the HELP Committee on Children and Families, Mikulski has written a letter addressed to the House and Senate leadership co-signed by Sens. Al Franken (D-MN), Robert P. Casey, Jr. (D-PA) and Tim Johnson (D-SD).

Coalition Letter in Support of the Children's Budget Act

The Children's Partnership joined this letter of support by the First Focus Campaign for Children on their work with Representative Danny Davis (IL) in the House and Senator Menendez (NJ) in the Senate on the Children’s Budget Act – H.R. 1602 and S. 1396.  The legislation would call for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to annually produce a full and deliberate accounting of all the money the federal government spends on and for children.

The law calls upon states to develop simple and streamlined processes for establishing, verifying and updating eligibility for Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program and federal subsidies for Exchange coverage.

    The Children's Partnership urges Governor Brown to sign SB 1050, which establishes am Autism Telehealth Taskforce within the Department of Developmental Services (DSS).  Read more about the Taskforce in this letter .
  • The Children's Partnership Sponsors SB 1050
    on July 05, 2012

    The Children's Partnership submitted a letter to California State Senator Alquist as a sponsor of SB 1050, which establishes an Autism Telehealth Taskforce within the Department of Developmental Services (DSS).

    It requires DDS to identify a Lead Administrator that will be responsible for the activities and work of the Taskforce. The Taskforce will provide technical assistance to DSS in the area of telehealth services for individuals with ASDs. Further, it will provide recommendations for the implementation of at least one demonstration site project that promotes the use of telehealth and technology to assist and improve the delivery of services for children with ASDs.
