Susan Rothstein has 25 years of experience in management of entrepreneurial nonprofits. She has focused on those that are undergoing major transitions or are in the start-up phase and has held staff, consultant, and interim executive director positions. Organizations she has worked with range in budget from $500,000 to $10 million and from 5 to 150 employees.
Organizations where Susan has served as interim executive director include San Francisco School Volunteers, The Museum of Children’s Art (MOCHA), Playworks, and BANANAS. By instituting strategic and operational changes on her watch, Susan ensured that each organization emerged from the transition better positioned for the future.
Susan has led strategic planning processes to develop a shared vision and operational plan and is a skilled facilitator of board and staff retreats. She has served on several nonprofit boards, including Children Now, the Stonestown YMCA, and The Three Guineas Fund (a grant-making foundation). Her board experience provides a helpful perspective when she consults with nonprofiit boards on clarifying and strengthening their role.
