AB 963 Fact Sheet

AB 963 would help ensure that individuals can easily enroll, and stay enrolled, in Medi-Cal by updating technology and processes so that, when individuals provide information to apply for and renew Food Stamps, the data would automatically also be used to apply for and renew Medi-Cal coverage.

Among other changes, the legislation would enact: an administrative process for mothers applying to continue coverage for their newborn infants;  a state-initiated ex parte renewal process for all children below 275 percent of the federal poverty level; and, an express lane eligibility program through the free and reduced-price school lunch program (Sec. 16).
