This Issue Brief describes how
telemedicine—the application of Information and Communications
Technology (ICT) to provide health care services at a distance—is
used to improve the health of California’s children, especially
those who are low-income or living in medically underserved areas. The
Brief provides an overview of the benefits of telemedicine for children
and families, health systems, and communities. It also outlines
challenges to successful adoption of telemedicine and provides concrete
recommendations for action.
